Cambridge Harm Reduction Lead

The Cambridge Harm Reduction Lead will work to develop and sustain programming within the city of Cambridge and adjacent communities, in order to build the capacity of Thrive HIV Prevention & Support’s Harm Reduction Program to respond to participant needs. This position is responsible for assisting the Manager of Harm Reduction Programs in the planning, implementation and sustainability of Harm Reduction programs and services of THRIVE in all program areas. This will include the SafePoint needle & syringe programs, education programming targeted to at-risk populations, and other community outreach initiatives. In addition, the Cambridge Harm Reduction Lead will coordinate with other THRIVE staff and community partners to provide services for individuals affected by and/or at risk for HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and overdose, including education, Naloxone training, harm reduction and prevention strategies.

Veterans Street Outreach Worker

The Ending Veteran Homelessness Initiative (EVHI) is focused on reducing veteran homelessness across Waterloo Region. Street outreach workers use a Housing First approach to support individuals experiencing homelessness in the Region, working collaboratively with the EVHI and existing street outreach teams. This work focuses on low threshold, direct and networked outreach to identify veterans who are street-involved, at risk of, or experiencing homelessness, and those who are living in encampments. Workers use low threshold approaches making minimal demands on program participants, with the goal of facilitating safety, well-being, engagement and ongoing connections to highly accessible community, social, health and housing services, including rental supplements and all program components of EVHI, shelter-adjacent and shelter services across Waterloo Region, the Cambridge MACS Drop-In and Sanguen mobile van and bus outreach.

Please note that full-time staff at Thrive work a 30-hour week, and that starting annual salaries for full-time Workers are $42,455; for Coordinators are $47,400; and for Managers are $53,900.
